This white wine is produced by Château Carbonnieux, a Classified Growth of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. A bottle of Pessac-Léognan de Carbonnieux it still traces of the Benedictine monks of the Sainte-Croix Abbey in Bordeaux who owned the Carbonnieux estate in centuries gone by.
The Pessac-Léognan de Carbonnieux 2013 is a blending of 65% sauvignon blanc, which gives a distinct minerality, and 35% sémillon, which brings body mid-palate. In the mouth, this wine has a well-defined acidity and passion-fruit to flint aromas that brings out the very delicate subtlety so specific to Carbonnieux. For 10 months, the wine ages in oak barrels with an ancestral manual stirring process of the Benedictine monks, which gives aromatic complexity and the distinctive pale golden color of this wine.
