Founded by Sumitaro Kondo, Choya began as a wine-grape grower in 1914 before it started to manufacture Umeshu in 1959. Umeshu is a traditional Japanese liqueur that possesses a balance of sweetness, acidity and exotic fragrances. It is produced by steeping ume in sugar and spirits to extract the fruit's unique ingredients. Its mild taste and elegant aroma are extracted through a natural slow-aging process.
