TIPS FROM A LOCAL
Ramadan – The month of fasting is a hugely important time in the Islamic calendar, which offers both pros and cons for the visitor. Of course, it can limit daytime dining options, but prices for travel are lower and the iftar and suhoor meals can be wonderful, convivial occasions.
Life’s a Beach – Amid the cosmopolitan growth, it’s easy to forget Abu Dhabi’s prime seaside location, but don’t miss a visit to one of the stunning beaches and beach clubs overlooking the glorious Persian Gulf, or even a trip under the sea in a scuba adventure. The bounty of the sea can also be seen at the traditional fish market (Mina Port), worth a visit for its authentic vibe and fresh catch, which can be cooked on the spot.
The Right Stuff – As in most Arab countries, always use your right hand to handle and pass food.
