No Name II combines two famous peated single malt whiskies. One, from the Islay village of Port Askaig, has been aged in refill Sherry butts. This lends a singular fruity accent to the dry peatiness. The other malt, from the Isle of Skye, has been aged in American oak hogsheads for a spicy smoke and fruit profile. They then added some old and ethereal single malt whisky from the village of Brora in the Highlands, also aged in hogsheads. Lastly, a dash of our proprietary Highland malt blend, finished in new French oak, brings underlying richness.
Those who snapped up No Name I, and who are familiar with The Peat Monster, will love this latest exploration of the smoky whisky spectrum. No Name, No. 2 is proof, if it were needed, that peat is far from one-dimensional.
