RUSTICHELLA D’ABRUZZO S.A.S. was established in 1989, with Gianluigi and Maria Stefania Peduzzi at the helm. Nicolina Sergiacomo left the family business to her children, and exited the corporate structure. Since then, the company has been under the watchful eye of Piero Peduzzi, proponent of the new Rustichella d'Abruzzo brand, and a true visionary in his understanding that things from the past – if re-introduced wisely – would once again become symbols of quality and authenticity. The Peduzzi brothers have focused their efforts on ensuring that the company’s image of quality and excellence is second to none. They began working meticulously to consolidate a network of professionals and gastronomes, gathering together key people who, during past years, had discovered the artisans of good food. Among them is the dear Giorgio Onesti, who like others, became part of our history as a family friend, taking on the role of Ambassador of our pasta. At the same time, the company began exploring foreign markets, and the first to discover Rustichella d'Abruzzo were the founders of Dean & DeLuca in New York, who came to Pianella to visit our new company. During his trips to New York, Gianluigi’s meeting with Rolando Ruiz Beramendi would seal the success of our brand in America. It is worth mentioning that when spelt pasta began to be used in 1991 – something that was new in Italy that year – our distributor in San Francisco completely sold out of spelt pasta two hours after an article about it was published in the New York Times.
