Escape with Us: A Day by the Sea

DFS staff on dream coastal escapes and hero pieces to pack

As part of a series that celebrates escapism, we ask our staff members to share where they’re hoping to go and what they’re packing on their bucket-list getaways. To kick off the series, we ask a handful of staff members to share which seaside spots are calling their names the loudest.

“My computer screensaver is of one of those picturesque clichés of a secluded beach with crystal-clear water, white sand, and palm trees. I’m dreaming of the day I’ll be sipping cocktails in a hammock from a place just like it! I think the Maldives would be my top pick, but I wouldn’t complain about a trip to Bora Bora either! As for what to pack, I don’t need much — a simple but chic straw beach bag filled with books and sunscreen and I’m sorted.”

“I can’t wait to return to Todos Santos in Mexico. It’s a little beach town with a few luxurious poolside resorts and an active art scene. When I’m not having fish tacos roadside or margaritas around the pool, I’ll be exploring some of the local galleries. It’s not the type of place where you need full-on glamour, but a vibrant pop of lipstick and a spritz of a sweet, fresh fragrance will never go astray.”

“I love the idea of a Hamptons getaway. I’d take my cues from the style that seems synonymous with the ‘Hamptons look’ and opt for lots of understated whites, creams, and neutrals in my outfits and accessories. For the plane trip, I’ll be packing a super-hydrating moisturizer in my hand luggage so I can arrive looking as fresh as the outfits!”
