NOVEMBER 16, 2011 - The Widhya Asih Foundation was established in 1975, and through an exchange program with the United World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA), Bali Bridges was born. Bali Bridges was set up in 2006 with two aims, to raise funds for the Widhya Asih Foundation for critical initiatives that impact the livelihood of the children, and to provide a unique and strong platform of cultural exchange and friendships between the orphans and the students and their families at UWCSEA.

DFS Galleria Singapore, in collaboration with the UWCSEA, has adopted Bali Bridges as their designated charity. Since October 2007, DFS has managed to raise S$400,000 and worked on several meaningful projects, such as the supply of rice to feed over 500 orphans in 7 orphanages and the renovation of Melaya kitchen, toilets and bathrooms to improve the living and hygiene condition of the orphanage. We are currently working on the rebuilding of dorms for the overcrowded Bangli orphanage. The funds that DFS staff have raised also form part of the scholarships that are available to the older children so that they are able to pursue tertiary education. This is likely to help them find employment and be self-sufficient. Now, DFS seeks to further supplement this through proceeds to be raised at a major Charity Event within the DFS Galleria.

The Charity Event will take place on Friday, 18 Nov 2011, 8.00 – 10.30pm and will comprise of many fund raising activities. This closed door event will allow guests to shop from 8 – 10.30pm where 5% of all the purchases made during this period will be donated to Bali Bridges. Guests who made purchases will stand a chance to win several great lucky draw prizes. In addition, a silent auction featuring over 20 exclusive items will help to drive donations that night. Guests could also make cash donation and convey their well wishes to the children in the orphanages.

To show our appreciation to our guests, DFS will also present the latest Fall/Winter 11 Leather Collection in a glittering fashion show. While the stylish Class 95 host, Bobby Tonelli, hosts the event for the evening, Claressa Monteiro and her band will present a high-octane exuberant jazz performance for the guests.

Today, as we live more affluent lifestyles, we should not forget about the needy. With your support, DFS strives to help these underprivileged children and shape a better world for them.
