DFS Staffers on Their Holiday Recommendations

Travel tips to bookmark

If you’re planning a trip soon, or in the mood for a couple of minutes of travel wanderlust, read on to discover our US team’s must-dos for four popular vacation spots across America.

We might be a little biased but, no matter which destination you visit, we think there’s one more travel recommendation that shouldn’t be missed — pick up some DFS and T Galleria Private Label goodies inspired by the destination, and bring them back home to your friends and family as a (very) welcome souvenir.

IF YOU’RE HEADING TO SAN FRANCISCO…

“Skip the overcrowded tourist attraction of Fisherman’s Wharf and get your fix of a much more local fishermen scene at Billingsgate – the Noe Valley cafe and market that’s all about championing San Francisco’s local fishing community and their catches. Try some oysters and smoked salmon on brioche, and wash it down with a cold beer or two. Oh, and wear layers — you never know what San Francisco weather is going to do!”

IF YOU'RE HEADING TO GUAM…

“Guam is all about the beaches, and while they’re definitely worth visiting, I think the nature trails are also pretty spectacular. The Guam National Wildlife Refuge, behind Ritidian Point, is a great place for a nature walk. Along with plenty of wildlife, you’ll find little pieces of ancient Chamorro culture older than 500 years, like water wells and pottery fragments. It really shows another side of the island.”

IF YOU’RE HEADING TO LOS ANGELES…

“If you love hunting for treasure, you’ve got to go to the Rose Bowl Flea Market. It’s the largest flea market in California at over seven miles long, and has 2,500 vendors selling everything from antiques to furniture to fashion, and almost anything else you can imagine. Go early to avoid the crowds and get the best stuff before it’s been picked over. Remember it’s only on the second Sunday of every month — and wear comfortable shoes!”

IF YOU’RE HEADING TO NEW YORK…

"There’s been a lot of buzz around the opening of Little Island at Pier55, and for good reason. It’s a free-entry island park in the Hudson River that feels like a tranquil escape from the city, and is great for a (very Instagrammable) stroll. Stop by The Play Ground, where you can grab some food from local New York vendors, such as my favorite, Brooklyn-born Bushwick Tea.”
