Carolina Herrera was exposed to international culture and fashion early on. At 13, her grandmother took her to Paris to see the Cristobal Balenciaga haute couture show. As she puts it: “My eyes were accustomed to seeing beautiful things.” In 1981, she showed her first collection in New York.
