Dramatically poised on the edge of a cliff 70 meters above the crashing waves of the Indian Ocean, Pura Luhur Uluwatu is one of the nine directional temples meant to protect Bali from evil spirits. Located in the southern village of Pecatu, it is commonly agreed upon as the most spectacular temple in Bali. Sunsets from here are a sight to behold but beware, Uluwatu is inhabited by a large number of monkeys who will attempt to steal whatever is on your person, including smartphones and cameras! However, they can usually be swayed to return things in exchange for a piece of fruit.
