Throughout her artistic career, Venice-based artist Elisabetta Di Maggio has made the concept of 'Time' the focus of her work declining it in all its forms. In this site-specific installation created for T Fondaco dei Tedeschi, Di Maggio’s reflections about time and luxury explore an underpinning question, “how do you spend your time?”

In this new millennium, the concepts of time and luxury have intertwined to become co-dependent. Luxury goods are valued not only based on the high-quality materials used in the manufacturing, but also because of the time invested by the artisans to craft them. Time and the memories that it creates have therefore become the real luxury prompting a shift in how our society values it. In recent years, significant emphasis has been given to “enjoying or savoring special moments and living extraordinary experiences.”

With this sophisticated work beautifully spreading throughout the Event Pavilion, Di Maggio promises to take the visitors on a journey through time forging a relationship between past and present, between ancient tradition, the memory of the iconic post-office and the modern image of T Fondaco dei Tedeschi.

To complete this extraordinary project, Di Maggio has been assisted by a talented group of students attending the Marco Polo Artistic Institute of Venice. Through this exhibition, T Fondaco has provided the students with a unique opportunity to work in a large-scale project alongside a renowned artist, further strengthening DFS' relationship with the city of Venice in promoting culture and professional experiences for the new generation.

The exhibition will be open to the public every day from April 5, 2018, to November 25, 2018, according to the store's opening hours.
