Guided Tour: From Fontego to T Fondaco dei Tedeschi
Every third wednesday of the month, 6.30 pm
On the marble balconies and columns at T Fondaco dei tedeschi - one of the most remarkable buildings in the Rialto area - there are over two hundred signs, engravings or paintings done by the merchants who came from countries beyond the Alps and stayed in Venice during the 13th century.
The rooms of this building have been home to important German business people, where extremely valuable paintings from the Renaissance were kept, which were later sold during the Napoleonic period. When it used to be a post office, the director’s room was frescoed by a famous Venetian painter.
These particulars along with many others will be disclosed during the guided tours organized by T Fondaco dei Tedeschi on the third Wednesday of each month.
