November 13, 2014, Hong Kong – DFS Group (DFS), the world’s leading luxury travel retailer, celebrated the fourth annual Masters of Wines and Spirits gala event in Singapore on November 8. This year’s curated collection featured over 80 masterpieces from 65 of the world’s most legendary wines, spirits and champagne. Following the event, DFS will host Asia’s largest retail exhibition of premium wines and spirits exclusively at Changi Airport from 10 November 2014 to 28 February 2015.
“The 2014 Masters of Wines and Spirits collection represents our philosophy of curation, adventure and discovery. It is an opportunity to explore and discover new brands, enjoy classics from esteemed leaders, and experience in person the history, heritage and craftsmanship of the masters,” said Harold Brooks, President, Global Merchandising, DFS Group. “This is what distinguishes DFS as the world traveler’s preferred destination for luxury shopping.”
Over 400 collectors and connoisseurs attended the private dinner and gala event, including over 25 brand ambassadors representing the producers that created many of the masterpieces on display. Hosted inside a historic 1900s black and white house on Singapore’s verdant Mount Pleasant, the collection of fine wines and spirits were displayed in the intimate space that only DFS could offer.
Internationally renowned wine critic James Suckling and Singapore’s own spirits expert Michael Callahan joined DFS in sharing their insights in entertaining and hosting at one’s home—a key trend in Asia driving the appreciation of fine wines and spirits. These insights were summarized into the six key elements of entertaining at home with fine wines and spirits: The Welcome, The Company, The Meal, Conversations & Entertainment, Setting & Ambiance, and Post-Dinner.
“Luxury should be experiential, immersive and truly personal. With masters such as James Suckling and Michael Callahan welcoming us into their worlds, we have created an experience that firmly establishes the Masters of Wines and Spirits as Asia's largest and most prestigious retail exhibition of fine wines and spirits", said Sibylle Scherer, President of Consumer Marketing & Branding, DFS Group.
Ivy Wong, Senior Vice President, Airside Concessions, Changi Airport Group, said, “We are delighted to partner with DFS again, for the fourth time, on this prestigious event. As the DFS stores’ makeover progresses, we are excited by the changes we see. The exclusive Masters of Wines and Spirits collection, which will be showcased at DFS’ newly renovated store at Changi’s Terminal 1, will enhance the depth of shopping experience in Changi.”
