JUNE 23, 2012 - In keeping with its worldwide commitment to the Hand in Hand for Haiti project, DFS Group has joined with The Edrington Group and Changi Airport Group to raise funds for the charity. Beginning this July, DFS invites international travelers to indulge in a world of limitless luxury while supporting philanthropy by purchasing an exclusive Macallan Six Pillars Decanter with 55 year-old Scotch whisky at Singapore Changi Airport.
Donated by The Edrington Group, the rare Macallan 55 year-old Scotch whisky is beautifully packaged in a unique crystal decanter with a sterling silver collar and hangtag. Chosen from spirits held in exceptional oak casks since 1945 and 1949, the highly collectible release is presented in a signature solid European oak case with a numbered book to match its serial number.
As a staunch supporter of Hand in Hand for Haiti since 2010, DFS is privileged to bring three of the 100 limited-edition bottles in existence to Singapore. In addition to calling upon its own employees to participate in a fundraising charity run, DFS is also donating all revenues (a total of SGD $114,000) to sponsoring The Edrington Group’s Regional Director of Asia Travel Retail, Mr Ryan Hill, who has just completed the Gobi Desert Race, a 250 km test of endurance across hostile desert terrain.
Brooke Supernaw, DFS Group’s Director of Merchandise, Spirits said, “We are honored to partner with Changi Airport Group and The Edrington Group in supporting Hand in Hand for Haiti through the exclusive sale of these three bottles of limited edition Macallan 55 year-old whisky. DFS Group is proud to be part of this great effort and we are continually inspired by the commitment and teamwork exhibited by our team, brand and business partners in championing this exceptional cause.”
Ryan Hill, Regional Director Asia Travel Retail at Edrington said, “The Macallan holds the Guinness World Record for the most expensive whisky sold at auction and our marketing team has been very supportive of the idea of raising money for Hand in Hand for Haiti by donating three extremely rare decanters to be sold at DFS Group’s outlets in Singapore Changi Airport. This initiative follows their tremendous support for my efforts in the Gobi Desert Race to raise funds for the same cause. As a philanthropic organization, the enthusiastic DFS Group team dived in immediately to drive this special whisky sale through to fruition. I would personally like to thank my colleagues at The Macallan and our friends at DFS Group and the Changi Airport Group for their immense support for this wonderful charity.”
Ms Ivy Wong, Senior Vice President, Airside Concessions, from Changi Airport Group said, "Changi Airport is honored to be the only airport in the world to feature the Macallan 55 year-old Whisky. It is a privilege for us to showcase such a prestigious brand from The Edrington Group, and we are grateful for the opportunity to support a meaningful cause with the Hand in Hand for Haiti charity drive. We look forward to more such fulfilling partnerships with our retail partner DFS Group and the brand owners".
