MARCH 31, 2012 - Today, collectors, connoisseurs and lovers of fine spirits and wine celebrated the gathering of the most prestigious masterpieces at DFS Group’s Master of Spirits event in Singapore. This year’s event surpassed last year’s inaugural event in both scale and selection; 84 masterpieces from 50 of the world’s leading prestige brands were presented to invited guests. DFS Group once again delivered on the promise of bringing spirits and wine aficionados the unique opportunity to savour a collection of rare and premium selections from world-renowned brands. Master of Spirits II salutes the tradition, the heritage and the culture of the creators of fine spirits, wine and champagne. Today’s events kicked off the month-long Master of Spirits II exhibition at Singapore Changi Airport.

“DFS Group is honoured to continue our collaboration with Singapore Changi Airport to bring Master of Spirits to Singapore again. Through our diverse product offerings and dedicated personalized services as well as the strong business partnerships we have built through our history, we will continue to set the standard in global luxury retail,” said Michael Schriver, Group President of Stores and Business Development for DFS.

Master of Spirits II is a multifaceted experience across a rare selection of blends and vintages. The experience is a journey through aromatic flavours, vintages, and limited editions, and is an opportunity for spirits and wine collectors to engage with the makers, the connoisseurs, and ambassadors from 27 of the most prestigious brands. DFS offers a rare glimpse into the world of brands such as Dom Perignon, Hennessy, Johnnie Walker, Glenfiddich and Royal Salute. Master Classes were presented, guiding guests through the history and intricacies behind each drink and, most importantly, the techniques required to fully appreciate each masterpiece’s unique flavour and character.

Philippe Schaus, Group President of Merchandising and Marketing for DFS, said, “This event takes our guests on a luscious journey of discovery into the world of spirits, wine and champagne. Here at Master of Spirits II, we provide a first-class experience for guests to taste and relish the world’s great liquid masterpieces and share this moment of celebration with DFS.”

The exclusive nature of the masterpieces presented at the gala event is unprecedented and has taken the exhibition to a level of its own. DFS Group’s long-term partnership with premium brands was evident in the presence of many rare special editions of spirits made solely for this event. For example, the Chabot Paradis Collection Armagnac were created uniquely for Master of Spirits II. Another magnificent addition to the single malt whisky was the Dalmore 1926 — the oldest, rarest and most exclusive malt produced by the Dalmore distillery; an incomparable masterpiece of taste and quality. At 300,000 Singapore dollars the Dalmore 1926 clinched the title as the most expensive bottle on offer at Master of Spirits II. Other masterpieces were deeply appreciated by the guests through their commitment to humanitarian goals: The entire Glenfiddich 1973 Limited Edition Cask No. 9899, was bottled specially in support of the Hand in Haiti charity and is only available through DFS. Finally, rising to the occasion was the Dom Perignon Réserve De L'abbaye 1978 Magnums, an exceptional and rare vintage, the perfect accompaniment for a celebration. The experience offered something for every palate and inclination; it was nothing less than a spirits, wine and champagne lover’s paradise.

Master of Spirits II is the first stop for the Master Series 2012 — an exciting series of events highlighting DFS Group’s expertise in the four pillars of luxury: Cosmetics, Fashion, Spirits & Wine and Watches & Jewellery.

The journey will continue through the month of April at Terminal 3 of Singapore Changi Airport, allowing global travellers an unrivalled opportunity to share in this unique luxury experience.
