Travellers make DFS "T Galleria" the leading luxury retailer in Macau

Global Travellers make DFS

DECEMBER 7, 2013 – DFS Group, the world’s leading luxury travel retailer, today announced the rebranding of its downtown stores in Macau from DFS Galleria to “T Galleria by DFS,” or the Traveller’s Galleria. The T Galleria Macau, Shoppes at Four Seasons, was opened in 2008 and is DFS’ largest store in the world by floor area; the DFS Galleria at City of Dreams was opened in 2009.

DFS unveiled the new identity for its downtown stores – T Galleria by DFS, at an event in Hawaii earlier this year in September. Since then, DFS has rebranded six of its Gallerias worldwide, and the remainder of the network will be rebranded by the end of 2014.

With 28 million annual arrivals, US$38 billion in gaming revenue, and retail sales of US$6.6 billion in 2012* (up more than ten-fold since 2007), Macau is an important travel destination in Asia, with consumers from China and the Asia-Pacific region travelling to the booming Cotai Strip for gaming and leisure. In 2008, DFS first brought luxury retail to the Strip with a vision of how Macau and luxury retail would evolve and grow over time. Today, DFS is the largest single luxury retailer in the entire Macau market.

Speaking at the T Galleria Macau, Shoppes at Four Seasons, Philippe Schaus, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DFS Group, said:

“DFS is proud to have been a pioneer in developing the Cotai Strip into the extraordinary luxury retail success story it is today. We have made significant investment here as we have expanded our luxury portfolio over the years, and we thank our brand partners for their trust when we first made our bold prediction five years ago about the huge potential for growth in this market. Today, our vision has become a reality and we are excited to be rebranding our downtown stores in Macau to T Galleria by DFS. Almost half or our worldwide Galleria stores now boast this new, bold and modern brand identity that truly reflects what we have become – the world traveller’s preferred destination for luxury shopping.”

Benjamin Vuchot, Region President, Asia North, DFS Group, described the allure of Macau:

“Macau is a mecca for tourism, retail and entertainment in Asia, attracting an average of more than 75,000 visitors a day, most of whom visit the retail shops co-located within the casinos. We continue to see opportunities in Macau, as the local economy registers sustained growth each year in Macau’s thriving and increasingly diversified leisure industries. We will continue to accommodate the needs of our travelling customer by focusing on providing them with a seamless, luxurious shopping experience.”
