A novel of formation, Terremoto – the first book written by Chiara Barzini – is set in California during the 90s, at the peak of the Rodney King racial riots, when fashion was savage and disruptive and the first illegal rave parties were coming to light. As she grows up, young Eugenia ruthlessly crushes, with her unique emotional and psychic language, the myth of an ideal America where everything is for sale.
