Writers in Conversation: Alter-Natives Talk with Shi Yang Shi Writers in Conversation: Alter-Natives Talk with Shi Yang Shi

Born in 1979 in Jinan in the north of China, Shi Yang Shi arrived in Italy in 1990 and has been an Italian citizen since 2006. His life has been punctuated by a variety of different jobs, from being a dishwasher, street vendor and translator to a TV journalist in a very popular show, and eventually an actor in the cinema and theater. He even published his own novel, Cuore di seta (Mondadori, 2017), which outlines his life in Italy.

This talk is part of the series 'Alter-Natives', promoted by T Fondaco dei Tedeschi in collaboration with the University Ca’ Foscari of Venice. It presents works of writers that were born outside of Italy and have chosen the Italian language to share the experience of those who “live” in a linguistic area that is different from one’s own.
