DECEMBER 10, 2018 - DFS Group (DFS), the world’s leading luxury travel retailer, hosted the largest and most spectacular edition of its world-leading Masters of Time exhibition on December 7-8, 2018 in commemoration of the event’s milestone tenth anniversary. The exhibition, titled “Masters of Time X” was held at T Galleria by DFS, Shoppes at Four Seasons, Macau, in partnership with Shoppes at Four Seasons and featured a special anniversary collection highlighting craftsmanship, design and innovation. The collection will remain on display in Macau until February 28, 2019.
The special anniversary event kicked off on Friday, December 7 with an immersive, multi-sensory dining experience featuring a 5-Michelin star menu created by celebrated chef Raf Alajmo, and attended by nearly 200 international media, VIP guests, celebrities and brand ambassadors. The four-course experience unfolded on the performance stage of the Venetian Theatre, accompanied by a bespoke digital installation that took guests on a sensory journey of taste, sight, and the romance of travel and discovery. Inspired by Masters of Time X’s theme of refraction, the installation explored the speed of light and its relationship to time, featuring spectacular visual effects of light on precious metals and gems.
On Saturday, December 8, over 500 guests attended a prestigious gala event against a backdrop of stunning fine jewelry and timepieces gathered from around the world in a year-long search by DFS’ expert curators. Continuing the multi-sensory journey within the Venetian Theatre, guests were invited to explore five unique walk-in showcases hosted by Bvlgari, Franck Muller, Hublot, Jaquet Droz, and Ulysse Nardin. Each case was transformed into an immersive experience that highlighted each brand’s DNA and craftsmanship through visual and interactive storytelling. The gala event culminated in a mesmerizing acrobatic performance from an international aerial troupe who delighted guests with their daring display of skill and strength.
Adding to the atmosphere of excitement and privileged discovery, award-winning actress Charmaine Sheh mingled with guests while leading-edge fashion designer Phillip Lim flew in from New York to share his professional tips on how to style wardrobe classics with fine jewelry and timepieces. Russian luxury graffiti artist Pokras Lampas demonstrated his captivating live drawing technique, incorporating his DFS-exclusive MOT X design. Also in attendance were DFS Masters of Time ambassador Carson Chan, Hong Kong’s most notable watch collector, and Eric Ku, globally acknowledged as an authority on vintage Rolexes. Complementing the experience, guests were treated to the exquisite taste of Rare Champagne, caviar and truffles.
“In this tenth year of DFS’ Masters of Time, the desires of our customers were more than ever at the heart of our carefully curated collection of fine jewellery and exceptional watches,” said Matthew Green, DFS Group Senior Vice President, Watches and Jewelry. “We took great pride in selecting these masterpieces from our leading brand partners to delight our customers, regardless of whether this is their first or tenth experience of Masters of Time.
