Captain Morgan
In 1944, the Seagram Company started producing rum under the name Captain Morgan Rum Company. Seagram sold the Captain Morgan brand to Diageo in 2001. The brand takes its name from Captain Henry Morgan (1635-1688), a Welsh born buccaneer who was appointed Governor of Jamaica in 1680 and was eventually knighted by King James I. The brand continued to grow and expand its offerings with a range of new variants. It's now the world's number 2 rum-based drink.
