Château Latour is one of the defining estates in Pauillac, Bordeaux and was awarded the rank of First Growth in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855. Les Forts de Latour is the second wine of the estate, produced with the same meticulous care as the Grand Vin, both in the vineyard and in the winery. The only notable difference, apart from the origin of the grapes, is the proportion of new barrels (50 to 60%) used in the maturing stage. The blend for Forts de Latour can vary from one year to the next but there is always a higher proportion of Merlot (25 to 30%) compared to the Grand Vin.
In the glass, the 2012 Les Forts de Latour's color is dark with a beautiful intensity. The nose is fruity, refined, ripe and extremely expressive. On the palate, the wine is rounded and smooth, spicy and very aromatic. It evolves pleasurably towards a delicious finale with fine tannins.
