BREGUET

An innovator and pioneer, Breguet is one of the oldest watchmakers still in business. Since its establishment in Paris in 1775 by the Swiss watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet, who had come to Versailles to complete his apprenticeship, the House of Breguet quickly emerged as one of the most renowned watchmakers in the City of Lights. Marie-Antoinette helped to make the House known. Bonaparte later became an enthusiast and admirer of Breguet's innovations. Among them, the tourbillon as well as the forerunner of the modern chronograph. Throughout the centuries, kings, emperors, and prominent leaders have been among Breguet's loyal followers. They included such luminaries as Talleyrand, Czar Alexander I, or Sir Winston Churchill. The House has been located in Switzerland in the Vallée de Joux since 1976.
